Katherine Kennedy established Blue Ltd in 2014. Since then she has worked for multiple clients including the United Nations, Commonwealth, World Bank and other international organisations and governments.
She enjoys collaborating with others, including those from major consulting firms, international bodies, universities and SMEs, as well as independent experts.
Katherine has over 25 years of experience in consultancy and public service. Most of her work is in the field of climate change adaptation, marine and coastal management, flood risk, natural resource planning and strategy, climate finance, operations, risk, capacity building, and institutional strengthening. She also designs and mediates dialogue processes pertaining to environmental disputes and emergencies.
She has delivered wide-ranging programs for multiple international clients, including on project design for seaweed aquaculture in Malaysia and the United Kingdom; climate change and blue growth in small island developing states (SIDs); sea and river climate disaster risk management and capacity building in The Gambia. She was retained as Head of Climate Change for the Commonwealth Secretariat, where she led on all climate change matters in service to 53 Member States.
Katherine holds a BSc in Environmental Sciences from the University of East Anglia (UEA); an International MA in Conflict, Peace and Security from the United Nation’s Institute of Training and Research (UNITAR) – UN Peace-Keeping Training and a PGDip in Project Management.
She is a Chartered Environmentalist; served on the Professional Standards Committee and the Audit and Risk Committee of the UK Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) and is a Member of the Environmental Peace-Building Association.
